X plane forums how to#
They also have one or two very unpleasant moderators who seem to have truly mastered the finer points of how to make friends and influence people. They have a rule there - if you criticise ED or DCS on any other forum or venue you will be banned from the DCS forum. The Captainsim forum where one of the developers got into an argument with a customer and made threats that he (the developer) had Spetsnaz contacts and would arrange for them to visit the unhappy customer. Also remember how they banned a whole bunch of people after they criticised Orbx over their handling of the Christmas 2011 sale. The Orbx forum where you aren't allowed to mention any other commercial scenery products.

We just had the example of poor handling of moderation at Aerosoft's Airbus forum too. I think we are all familiar with how things are run at Avsim, and the PMDG forum there. Welcome to the wibbly wobbly world of internet flight sim fora, where a healthy dose of over inflated sense of self importance, snowflake fragile ego, commercial interest and the protection of advertising revenue and commercial sponsorship conspire to make adults act like spiteful children.
X plane forums update#
UPDATE II: In case this happens again, I've decided to move somewhere else to post on my aircraft dev thread. UPDATE: I've managed to message one of the other admins (I think he's the site creator) and am waiting for his reply. Well done if you made it through this post, I'm sorry if it's not suitable for this subreddit, I just needed to get this off my chest. I'm seriously considering just leaving the org permamently and going somewhere else. Now I can't post, can't chat, downloading probably doesn't work, and I can't get it sorted out. Someone in there agrees that it was a valid question, but then I'm suddenly added to the block list for the shoutbox. All I get is an automated reply saying my message was blocked. I'm slightly confused about this, so I PM the admin concerned. It's from the Admin Who Shall Not Be Named, and also says, "The comments section for this aircraft is for meaningful discussion, this isn't Twitter, don't just post your personal thoughts." It says I've been formally warned, for "Posting an off topic comment".

Right in the middle of the page is a red box with a warning notification. Later, I realise I didn't post on the thread so I go back to the org. I close the tab (I know, I forgot to post on the VC10 thread) and go about my business. The pictures look similar (as they would) and so I ask in the comments section, "So is this just a slightly longer version of the E170?" to find out if it was made from scratch or just an edited version of the other plane. He's posted it on behalf of SSG, who have also recently made freeware their E170. It's been posted by a certain admin (who comes into this story in a minute) who I won't name, but you could probably find out if you wanted. I notice that in the sidebar of new downloads there's an E190. So I log on this evening as usual, planning to post an update to my VC10 on its forum thread. This is just one thing that was done by one person. What I'm writing here isn't targeted at the forum itself or the majority of users and admins, who are great people.

org forum, for the past 10 years it's been the main place for X-Plane downloads and forums. I'm sure many of you will be familiar with the. This is just a vent post by me, so ignore it if you want, I expect it'll be long.
